I would like to wish everyone a Happy Saint Patrick’s Day. Today, along Fifth Avenue, we celebrate Irish culture in the largest such parade on the planet.
My Irish ancestry has its roots in Counties Galway, Cork, and Donegal. One thing that my Irish roots instilled in me is my devotion to family. I consider this community to be part of my family.
The Irish also take great pride in preserving their culture for future generations. In that same spirit, I feel it is vital to protect our district’s cultural institutions and historical landmarks because they provide us all with an understanding of who we are and who we thrive to be.
They say that everyone is Irish on Saint Patrick’s Day. Considering Ireland’s longstanding adherence to religious freedom and the diversity of the 43rd Council District, I cannot think of a stronger message to spread on this day and every day.
