Kevin Peter Carroll, candidate for the New York City Council for the 43rd District, has received the endorsement of Victory Fund – a national organization which works to elect LGBTQ leaders.
According to its website, Victory Fund works to change the face and voice of America’s politics and achieve equality for LGBTQ Americans by increasing the number of openly LGBTQ elected officials at all levels of government.
“I know Victory Fund would not endorse me unless they had the utmost confidence in my chance of winning,” said Kevin Peter Carroll. “They have an amazing track record of electing LGBTQ candidates from Tammy Baldwin to the U.S. Senate to Sean Patrick Maloney and Kyrsten Sinema to the House and, in turn, making this nation a more open and tolerant place to live. In just the past 20 years, we have gone from a time when I would have been dishonorably discharged for being honest about who I am to now, when I, and whomever I love, can raise a family. We have Victory Fund was the driving force behind all of that and that is why I am grateful for their endorsement.”
“Victory Fund is thrilled to endorse Kevin Peter Carroll for the New York City Council,” said Victory Fund President & CEO Aisha C. Moodie-Mills. “Kevin’s commitment to government reform, increased funding for education, and more housing options for seniors makes him the best person to represent the 43rd District. When he wins in November, Kevin will become a vital LGBTQ voice in city government.”
